A 125-Year Family Baking Tradition — A legacy of love, resilience, and handcrafted baklava passed down through five generations.

Our story begins over a century ago in Asia Minor, where our great-great-grandmother first crafted baklava with patience, purpose, and tradition. In 1915, she immigrated to America with Uncle Steve and settled in West Virginia.

By 1923, the family moved to Philadelphia. At just five years old, Sophie watched her mother bake baklava — learning each delicate brush of butter, the layering of phyllo, and the perfect pour of syrup.

In 1958, Sophie passed this art to her daughter Christine, who spent decades perfecting the recipe. By 1998, Christine was running weekly farmers’ market locations across the region — serving not just baklava, but a variety of traditional Greek favorites.

In the 2000s, Christine made a life-changing choice: she turned down a large grocery-chain opportunity to stay local — investing in her family and keeping the tradition alive.

Yia Yia’s Baklava Today

In 2021, Dimitri told his mother: “We’re going to share your baklava with the world.” Together with his wife Leticia, they transformed a family tradition into a modern bakery experience.

Leticia leads flavor innovation — introducing weekly rotating flavors that blend Mediterranean heritage with fun, bold combinations. Our baklava is more than dessert. It’s our family’s story — one bite at a time.
